Hunter Seat Equitation – Frank Madden and Bill Cooney

Hunter Seat Equitation features two of the nation’s leading Hunter Seat Equitation trainers, Frank Madden and Bill Cooney.  This pair was named 1984 Trainers of the Year at the Nation Horse Show after their students won the Triple Crown in the Equitation division.  The Triple Crown consists of the ASHA Hunter Seat Medal, the ASPCA Maclay and USET Finals. Their students prove the effectiveness of Madden and Cooney’s training techniques – with winning results.

Hunter Seat Equitation was established in 1939 by the American Horse Show Association.  The sport is exclusive to the United States and open only to junior riders 18 years and under.  This precise sport consists of specific patterns performed on the flat and over fences.

Included in these patterns are:

  • Lead changes
  • Proper seat
  • Gait transitions
  • Jumps from the very simple to the extremely difficult, all of which demand discipline and proper training of both horse and rider

With the help of this DVD you will learn:

  • How to achieve that all-important “invisible ride” that separates amateurs from professionals
  • Exercises for horse and rider that produce this invisible ride
  • Important techniques of communication between horse and rider

You will observe Madden and Cooney actually working with their riding students on the fundamentals of Hunter Seat Equitation:

  • Proper equipment
  • 5 rein aids
  • 4 basic tools of riding
  • 3 basic movements
  • Jumping releases
  • And much more

Whether you compete in the sport of Hunter Seat Equitation is excellent training for more advanced forms of riding such as Dressage, Eventing and Show Jumping.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity for a “private lesson” from two of America’s top instructors right in the comfort of your own home.
